Corona darling

And of course as the trend goes it’s corona time. The time for whiling away your existence. The time for people to experience the life of a quintessential introvert . But in all seriousness I want this trend to go. Even though I am so proud of our Kerala government in tackling this issue rather amazingly, I gotta say it’s really frustrating to follow all these new rules and restrictions. Let me first begin by saying how awesome Kerala government is. It has overcome 2 floods, numerous endemics and now a pandemic. And let me just refresh your memory by saying that when Covid 19 was first seen it Kerala, these people were immediately isolated and cured. But of course the Italians had other plans.

Fortunately I came from Kottayam to my home town Trivandrum before things went awry here. But my travel wasn’t easy. Fun fact, I have never worn a mask in my life before and due to this corona fear I had to wear it for 4 long hours in the train (kudos to the medical practitioners). Not only that, I had to keep all my bags on my lap and sit without touching anything. OK. I know it’s a bit overdone but this got me thinking. How much bacteria am I swallowing every day. Like since we are social animals we are bound to have physical contact with each and everything.

As I was sitting in the train I thought about the hundreds of people who have sat in this exact seat. Who have touched these dirty and rusty windows. Out of which some of whom have even spit through it. All of these and more possibilities were running through my head. It would have been enough to make me a germaphobe. But thinking back on what all I have done and never gotten sick before made me trust my immune system. Reaching home, I was welcomed in a totally different way. Nothing actually changed here. But that situation soon evolved after 3 cases were confirmed here in the capital. Maybe more as I write this. People have become hysterical. They started stocking up on their essentials and what not. And shops are closing early or for the coming days. But of course, we are talking about malayalis here. They have made even more hilarious memes about corona, giving us something to look forward to. And I look forward to drinking chai without adding milk powder. That’s fake milk by the way. I had to drink chai with milk powder cause most of the usual shops were closed. And for this particular reason (and others), I want Covid 19 to be eradicated. Go back corona. Go back.
