Let me just begin by saying that there are two sides to every story. The story that we should believe and the story that we want to believe. But we as social media animals have been talking and lauding about all that happened as if we were right there when this issue had happened. Yes, I am talking about the issue surrounding a group called bois locker room. And to those of you who have been living in a cave with no internet, bois locker room was a chat group wherein young boys of 15 to 18 would share objectionable pictures of young girls and even use obscene language and statements.
Now since I am a girl you might stop reading this thing right here. Because obviously what would a girl write about this issue. For all you know I could be a —wait for the dreaded word— a feminist. And I am one. But wait a minute, before you stop reading hear me out. Let’s just stop for a minute and forget about the titles like feminists, girl empowerment, misogynist and well, you know how it goes. Let’s just for a minute say, I am a human body without any gender. Now imagine that the whole world is gender free. A world where people are identified based on their character, behavior, skill, talent and every other factor that could make a human humane. A beautiful, peaceful and , I must say, a utopian society. And then suddenly out of nowhere a group of people has this intense urge to kill, maim and rape a few other people. There goes our beautiful society. Some people decided to go against the norm. But what happened to these people in the first place.? Was it their family which didn’t give them proper instructions as to how to live in a society.? Or was it because their feelings and emotions were a bit too much for them to handle.?
Or maybe the society they saw was different. Now imagine there are two groups of people. One group of people was always serving another group of people. This same group of people would be paid less for the same job the other group did. And this group would even cook, wash, and take care of the other group.
Alright, now hold your thoughts right there. We were talking about a gender free society right.? And yet when I told you about a group of people cooking, washing and taking care of another group, you imagined a woman cooking, cleaning, washing and taking care of a man. And that right there is why, my friends, we are failing as a society.
We are conditioned in such a way that when we say imagine a couple, you would imagine a girl shorter than a boy. When did this notion come into existence? When I say imagine a rich CEO, most of you would imagine a man in a suit. And the few of you who did imagine a girl as a rich CEO, people would say that it’s ballsy. When did balls become ambitious.?
Now, I am not gonna point out what to do or what not to do. I am not going to think for you. Instead you could think for yourself. Who normalised patriarchy? Who normalised the fact that it’s OK for girls to cry but not boys because it’s not manly.? Why is sissy and pussy are the words used to describe weakness or something that is timid and frail. And how did balls become strong and bold.? Think. Use your brain. Bois locker room may be the issue now. But tomorrow another one would take it’s place. And socialites would still sip their cold chai and talk about the issues of the world, and it may or may not get into the heads of their followers.
Great thoughts. Must read for all!

I like how you exposed our inherent sexism with the gender-free analogy. Also, instead of spelling out for us, the article gives us the freedom to think for ourselves. 👏👏
